Logistics for 62-Mile Riders

Thanks for signing up for the 62-mile course beginning at Indiana Dunes State Park (IDSP) and culminating at Grant Park in Chicago on June 17, 2012!

This page will provide you with information for getting to the starting line on the evening of June 16 or the morning of June 17, camping and area hotels near IDSP, a packing list and more!

Getting to Indiana

To help get you and your bike to the starting line, we’ve assembled the following optional travel packages. Space is limited, so be sure to reserve seats for yourself and any teammates early. The extended deadline to purchase a Climate Cycle Transportation Package is June 12, 2012 at MIDNIGHT.

Directions to IDSP: Take South Lake Shore Drive/US-41 S, take exit onto I-55 S toward St Louis/I-90/I-94. Take exit 293B for I-90 E/I-94 E toward Indiana. Merge onto Interstate 90 Express S/Interstate 94 Express S. Merge onto I-94 E (14.4 mi). Exit onto I-80 E/I-94 E toward Indiana and continue to follow I-94E (29.4 mi). Take exit 26B to merge onto IN-49 N toward Indiana Dunes. Continue onto N 25E, then onto N CR-25 E. Continue onto N 25 E/N State Road 49.  Arrive at IDSP.

*Remember! If you are planning on getting to IDSP via car, you’ll need your friend to drive your car back to Chicago, as you’ll be biking to Chicago.

Climate Cycle Camping

If you plan on arriving to IDSP the evening of June 16 WITHOUT the Climate Cycle Sunset package, would like to camp, join us for a pasta dinner on June 16, and breakfast on the June 17, you may purchase a discounted campsite through us.

Climate Cycle Hotels

We are offering discount hotel rooms to riders who prefer not to camp. King and queen double rooms are being held for riders at $89 plus tax through Thurs, June, 14, 2012. Once booking, email Rachel@climatecycle.org, to arrange transportation to IDSP the morning of the ride.

Gear Check

Coming with gear? Have no fear! Any gear you bring with you to IDSP that you do NOT wish to ride with - camping tents, toiletries, overnight bags, your non-cycling shoes - can be checked with Climate Cycle event staff in Indiana and transported to the finish line at DuSable Harbor.

*Note: All gear being checked is limited to ONE “unit” per person. Please bring a bag large enough to fill everything you’ll be checking in.

Be prepared for any weather this time of year, especially if you’re camping!
